If you're a vigilant Derzeit reader, Lynn Amelie, a New Face of model agency PMA, should be familiar to you – she's been the cover model for DERZEIT July N°4. But her unique face and keen expression sharp as a knife, or let's say an axe, already caught our attention when we casted the models for DERZEIT's calendar Twelve a year ago. Speaking of the axe: Together with the chopped wood at the bottom of the image, it refers to a famous German man who died in 2011: Bernhard-Victor Christoph Carl von Bülow a.k.a. Loriot; he died of old age on August 22. Way before he became a legendary humorist, actor and director he had worked as a lumberjack for one year.
The clouds surrounding Lynn Amelie's face link the image to “Lughnasadh”, a traditional Gaelic holiday, usually held on a mountain top on the first day of the eighth month of the Gregorian calendar. What's left to be revealed in August's collage: the deeper meaning behind the green feathers. They belong to an accessory by Berlin-based brand Moga e Mago and represent the core idea behind Twelve: showcasing German New Faces in fashion by up-and-coming designers trained or based in Berlin. So wether you're watching the clouds passing by on a mountain top or chop wood in the Black forest while reflecting on the past, remember to pay attention to the present – it's summer time (in the Nothern Hemisphere) at last. So let Lynn Amelie accompany you for the next 31 days and then turn the page to September.
