In case you're currently wondering where summer 2012 is hiding, let's just concentrate on 2013 – because that's what Berlin will be all about next week. Brandenburger Gate will be freed from exhausted soccer fans, ready to welcome the trend watchers, Tempelhof will be turned into a global player's ground and Hotel Adlon will try to add some green karma to its luxurious appeal – just to give you a few examples. Speaking of “the tent”, Fashion Week Berlin's main spot, this season the schedule will present well-known fellows such as established German fashion brand Escada opening this season's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week S/S 13 with a presentation of their sports line. Hugo Boss will showcase “Hugo” (offsite of course!), Rena Lange and Laurèl will be back with their latest collections but there's also some avant-garde fashion strolling down the runway worth witnessing.
Here's some of the Berlin-based designers DERZEIT is excited about: French-German duo Augustin Teboul will present their latest couture-y fashion offsite – far in the West on Monday. Later that day Berlin menswear line Sopopular will have its studio debut to proof whether it can live up to its name. For Dawid Tomaszewski the tent feels probably like his second home… just like Kaviar Gauche, who will make Wednesday night a glamorous one.
Derya Issever & Cimen Bachri of Issever Bahri
Thursday's Berlin fashion highlights - according to DERZEIT - will be Blame, Sarah Büren and Sonja Hodzode's label based in Kreuzberg. Issever Bahri will lure you into the Studio at 14h sharp. And Michael Sontag is going to be back at the tent! Remember, he's been the one whom Suzy Menkes once blessed with her words; the designer took a break from Fashion Week in January.
Friday, menswear designer Hannes Kettritz will send his models onto the catwalk – last season he'd presented at the studio. And Perret Schaad is obviously a welcome host, whereas Friday night two of Berlin's most acclaimed design universities, Kunsthochschule Weissensee and the University of the Arts will showcase their student's collections.
But don't stop partying on Friday night yet, because Saturday sounds exciting with Sissi Goetze, a newbie among the Berlin menswear designers at the studio. One not to be missed: FIN. DERZEIT's fashion week closing party. See you in next week –when summer 2012 and 2013 will hopefully get together...
