After all those days of darkness and reticence, in April nature is back on track, blossoming again. The month is linked to the Roman goddess of love – Venus – and her Greek equivalent Aphrodite. Likewise, the word derives from the Latin verb “aprire”, which means to open. The bright pink shirt by fashion designer Thu Thu is the perfect textile match for the fourth image of TWELVE.

The multi-colored structure in the upper right corner of the collage resembles a diamond, whose main characteristic is the dispersion of white light into spectral colors. It's also April's birthstone. Light and life goes hand in hand with death and disease: The little grey package refers to the movie “Dogday Afternoon” by Sidney Lumet, who passed away last April; in the movie, a package carried by Sonny (Al Pacino) plays a deadly role in the course of the story. The image of the liver, linked to the yellow bubbles on the left side of the background, alludes to Baruch Samuel Blumberg. The 1976 Nobel Prize winner died on April 5 last year. His achievement: He discovered the virus Hepatitis B as well as its diagnostic test and a vaccine.
