#5 "Black Hills (Easy Tiger Remix)" by Gardens&Villa

#6 "Headcage" by Matthew Dear
Matthew Dear is a DJ, a dance-music producer, an experimental pop artist, a bandleader. Kindly supported by the label Ghostly (which he co-founded, the jack-of-all-trades), we're presenting his new Single “Headcage”. Deep and partly krautrock-y.

#7 "Patricia's Thirst" by Choir of Young Believers
The Choir of Young Believers group from Denmark normally comes up with the perfect soundtrack for a dreamy Sunday afternoon stroll – grey, rainy. But the newly released “Patricia's Thirst” actually sounds rather cheery and does remind us of TalkTalk.

#8 "Eat Yr Heart" by HTRK
They have already been touring with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Horrors. HTRK's sound is dark, solemn and sometimes hauntingly slow. Music to get lost in. Their album is called “Work (work, work)”, but their single “Eat Yr Heart” is best for coming down – from whatever trip.

#9 "All My Love" by Schwarz Don't Crack
Highly recommended: This Berlin/New York connection called "Schwarz don't crack". "All my love" sounds like what's best described as R'n'B Electro – pretty deep, pleasantly cheesy, highly addictive. We expect to hear more of these two guys in the future.

#10 "Made up" by NIAS
Nias are three Berlin guys who boost you with their electronic guitar sound and a voice that makes the blood sough in your ears. Their album comes out in March 2012. Here's a little teaser with the single “Made Up”.

ISSUE_4_online-4

  – Are you surrounded by artificial darkness right now? Among all kinds of hideous, kinky, eerie creatures? In a tent maybe? Waiting for the spotlights to be switched on? Hoping for an experience beyond the every day? Well, we’d like to help you with the latter and Bathcat provides the perfect soundtrack for that. It’s Soffy [...] [...]

third issue out now! hinterland revisited

ISSUE_3_online-3

_ Sitting in the front row it’s easy to witness what’s coming down the aisle – well, if it’s right in front of you. But to see what’s happening a little further away, you have to change your position or turn your head. As DERZEIT, we strongly recommend making this extra effort. If Fashion Week Berlin’s [...] [...]

ISSUE_2_online-2

_ Not knowing where the border is means it’s already been overstepped. (Fashion duo Johanna Perret and Tutia Schaad of Perret Schaad on crossing lines) – Who should you look up to, really? Maybe it can be liberating to let go of your idols, and to talk about it, of course. Jasper Hamill has the lowdown on this: In his [...] [...]

bathcat

We’re pulling all kinds of strings to bring you the latest trends – music included – and we came across this: Soffy O. was among the very first of the international musicians to populate Berlin – the kind you see all over the town these days. Nowadays her home base is Malmö, where she’s got a new project with Henrik [...] [...]

rené hamann: fashion complot! part 1 – 4

Portrait René Hamann Berlin

For our 2012 january issues René Hamann contributed a shortstory in 4 parts – one for every issue – read the hole story in original language here. PART ONE – Gegen Mittag rief ich in der Redaktion an. Ich solle vorbeikommen, hieß es, es gebe einen neuen Auftrag. Ich machte mich umgehend auf den Weg. Über den Landwehrkanal zogen [...] [...]

derzeit tunes no.3

Cass Mc Combs

Even though today’s featured artist Cass McCombs hails from San Francisco, his music perfectly suits the Berlin wet. Rather than fulfilling the stereotype of the confessant singer-songwriter, he describes the lifestyles and feelings of those who surround him with more love than judgment. McCombs is a mirror. Nothing to add other than: He’s already toured with [...] [...]
